In 2008, Emsleys established the "Emsleys Greens", a team specifically formed to reduce the impact our business has on the environment.
The Greens are composed of individuals from throughout the firm who are committed to helping Emsleys become "greener".
The team encourages colleagues across Emsleys many offices to join with the effort to "green" our organisation. Various policies practices and procedures have been put into place, from the introduction of recycling bins across the firm, to simple measures to remind staff to switch off equipment that is not being used, and with a firm aim to reduce energy consumption and use of resources.
Our aim is that over time, being environmentally aware will embed in the firm's culture and form a central part of who we are and how we do things.
We are one of only four law firms to sign up to the Yorkshire and Humber Environment Index, enabling us to benchmark against other organisations, and to drive us forwards to a year on year improvement in our index score of use of fossil fuels.
As part of our membership of Business in the Community, we have committed to a series of pledges as part of the annual Prince's May Day Summit, which are central to our policy.
We have joined the 10:10 initiative, committing us to aim for a 10% reduction of the firm's carbon footprint.
We recognise that being proactive in our approach to green issues is important to our people and to our business.
